As tag questions (perguntas de confirmação) são estruturas muito comuns no inglês falado e escrito, usadas principalmente para confirmar informações das quais já temos quase certeza, ou para verificar algo sobre o qual estamos em dúvida.
A lógica é simples: se a frase principal é afirmativa, a tag question será negativa, e vice-versa. A tag question geralmente repete o verbo auxiliar ou modal da oração principal, adaptando-o ao sujeito.
📘 Estrutura Básica
Frase afirmativa + tag negativa
Frase negativa + tag afirmativa
Verbo to be
She is blonde, isn’t she?
(afirmativa → negativa)
She isn’t blonde, is she?
(negativa → afirmativa)
A única exceção relevante ocorre com I am:
I am the next, aren’t I? ❗ (não se usa “amn’t I”)
I am not the next, am I?
